Neil Lineberger is a writer living in Gastonia, North Carolina., with his wife, Joyce; his daughter, Laura; son-in-law, John; and granddaughter, Emily. He returned to his native Gaston County in 2004 after 20 years in Atlanta, Georgia, where he worked as a technical writer, business analyst, and project manager. He formerly worked as an instructor of English and Applied Writing at Auburn University.
In 2008 Neil founded Belly Acre Farm on the property where he grew up and where his mother still lives. His purpose in becoming a commuting sharecropper had the dual goal of studying small-scale sustainable agriculture and feeding his three-generation household. Today he serves as Belly Acre’s CEO and SFH (Sole Farm Hand), and during growing season commutes to the farm almost daily.
